Who is responsible for your information?

Dare2Explore Ltd, operating the C.J. Weddell and Evelyn & Elliot Mysteries brands, is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us about privacy, unsubscribe or exercise your rights using the request form below.

What we collect

We may collect an adult subscriber's name and email address, confirmation that the person is an adult, their marketing choice and selected reading interests, the date and source of the signup, and information they include in a privacy request. For Detective Club requests, an optional detective name and broad reader age band may also be provided. We do not request a child's email address and do not knowingly invite children to submit personal information.

Why we use it

• To provide a requested download or respond to a request.
• To send book news, free activities, previews and occasional offers only where an adult has actively agreed.
• To keep a minimal suppression record when someone unsubscribes, so they are not added again by mistake.
• To protect forms from misuse and maintain basic records of consent.

Our legal bases

We rely on consent for marketing emails. We use legitimate interests or take steps at your request to provide downloads, answer enquiries, keep consent records, prevent misuse and maintain a do-not-contact list. You may withdraw marketing consent at any time.

Storage and sharing

Website forms are processed using Netlify. If an email service is used to send subscribed messages, subscriber information may also be stored with that provider. Service providers may process information only to provide their services to us. We do not sell personal information or provide the mailing list to unrelated advertisers.

Analytics and cookies

Google Analytics is available on this website to help us understand visits, popular pages, approximate traffic sources and interactions such as outbound link clicks. It remains switched off unless you select “Accept analytics” in the website notice. If you accept, Google Analytics may store analytics cookies on your device and process information about your browser, device, approximate location and use of this website. We do not send names, email addresses or Detective Club form details to Google Analytics.

We rely on your consent for this analytics use. You may withdraw or review that choice at any time using the button below. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection on this browser but does not erase information already collected. How long we keep it

Marketing subscriber records are kept until consent is withdrawn or the list is no longer used. Case-file and Detective Club download requests without marketing consent are removed from the active contact list within 90 days. A minimal suppression record may be retained after an opt-out. Privacy correspondence may be kept for up to 24 months where needed to demonstrate how a request was handled.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict use of your information, object to certain uses, or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
